Sukūn is a word that carries a rich and layered meaning across languages and cultures. It can be found in different languages such as Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, and Persian. In Arabic, (سُكُون) literally translates into stillness, quiet, or calm. On a deeper level, it can evoke a sense of tranquility of mind, heart, and spirit.
What is Sukūn?
Some find Sukūn through prayer or spiritual reflection, while others experience it in nature. Imagine being in a quiet lake with barely rippling water, or a forest where you feel both alone and completely safe, a feeling of being at home.
In therapy, my goal is to help you find this Sukūn, a personal sense of peace, clarity, and balance. It’s about finding calm even when life feels stressful, understanding your mind and emotions, and finding grounding in the midst of uncertainty.
Personally, Sukūn serves as a reminder for me to slow down and ground myself. It is something that deeply calms me down, but also allows space for the drive and passion that helps me push forward.
