Resilience & Oppression

My practice is deeply rooted in anti-oppressive values. I view therapy as both personal and political, an act of reclaiming connection and power.

In my study of psychology and counseling, I found that it is deeply rooted in whiteness. To this day, it has been practiced in many ways that are quite racist and harmful, especially when it comes to folx who belong to different marginalized identities.

A lot of my sessions can often look like processing systemic oppression and navigating the struggle that comes with the pain of witnessing ongoing violence and injustice. I often address the dissonance of living in spaces where those realities are minimized, dismissed, or even normalized, and the loneliness that can come with that. That isolation can feel heavy, especially when it seems like the world is moving on while we are still carrying grief, anger, or a deep sense of loss.

Through therapy, it’s possible to find ways to carry this weight while also building resilience, reclaiming agency, and connecting to a sense of hope and empowerment.
